Expecting Relief mission is to provide equitable access to food, essentials and health through distribution, education, and advocacy.  We focus on addressing racial disparities and biases that plague the injustices among black and brown families. Our vision is to design an opportunity where all people can live in dignity. Addressing food, diaper, period poverty, and maternal & infant health allows us to gather data to advocate for change. More than just providing essentials, we want to address the root causes of the need so that families can defeat generational poverty.

 

Founder Vanessa Bracetty-Ormsby, a product of the system, raised in NYCHA project buildings in Brooklyn NY, and having limited access to food and clothing due to the lack of education and resources that was unreachable for her mother is the core reason Expecting Relief exist. Founded in 2014, Vanessa decided to pay it forward, since then Expecting Relief has grown tremendously.
